I think that writing is a great way to express your thoughts, emotions and ideas. It is incredible the way some people can take a certain topic or specific information and convey the meaning of that subject through their writing. I think that it is sometimes easier for a writer to put what they have to say down on paper rather than to say directly in front of other people. Writing eliminates the direct response of rejection or critique.
I do like to write very much. I can remember writing songs, poems and attempts at short stories all the time when I was younger. I actually thought that I would end up being a professional writer. Writing has always come easy to me, but I definitely write more on the expressive than the factual side. I not only write when I absolutely have to, but I still enjoy writing poems or just reflections that help me deal with certain situations in life.
I would say that I think I am a pretty decent writer. I may lack a little bit of discipline in the structure or the technicalities of my writing, but I think that I am able to effectively express my thoughts or my emotions in what I write. I’ve written several speeches for specific events and I have always gotten a tremendous audience response.
I would love to fine tune my writing in terms of my technical skills. I think that I am used to elaborating and “beefing up” my language with details and descriptions which is what I often had to do to fill the pages for school papers. I would love to learn in a concise manner which would serve more for public relations writing. I also think the structure of my writing along with more learning more advanced techniques would really improve me overall as a writer.
